South Morang Junior Football Club The Lion's Tale

We had some fantastic results on the weekend. Out of 11 matches we had 10 winners. Congratulations to Under 15's who had their first win of the season and also to Under 10 Gold who also had their first win.  And our Under 17's gold also had their first taste of victory.  Hopefully these are the first of many.

Friday night Barbeque will be rostered amongst the teams.  This week (Fri 2nd)is Under 11 Blue. 
Next Friday night (Fri 9th) Under 11 Gold will be responsible for manning the barbeque. 
The bar will also be open on Friday nights so why not stay on for a while and get to know your committee members and other parents of the SMJFC. 
BAR IS OPEN LATE TONIGHT!!!!

We are very fortunate to have such fantastic facilities to enjoy.  Other clubs come and are in awe at the rooms we have.  However, we seem to be taking them for granted and not wanting to take care of them.  The state the club rooms are being left in on game day is totally unacceptable.  All we ask is that you leave the rooms tidy when your game is finished. Regardless of whether there is another team in there or not. Please pick up your tape, throw away your orange peels and drink bottles, place chip packets and lollie wrappers in the bins.  Bins are provided in every room so there are no excuses. Take home all your belongings as we are not keeping a lost property bin.  All unclaimed items will be donated to the Salvos. Don't be afraid to pick up a broom and give them a quick sweep even. All these little things makes life easier at the end of the day, when always the same people are doing the cleaning up!

Round 4 has been and gone already so the NFL has been busy doing some re-grading. Quite a few of our teams have moved divisions which is a direct reflection on the size and success of this club. We now have 5 teams in Division Blue (1), 5 teams in Division Red (2) and 4 teams in Division Green (3). Not bad for a club that 12 months ago was a Division 3 club!    See Fixtures for details.

We require volunteers to help out in the canteen every Sunday. If every team provided just one helper one hour before their matches and one hour after their matches it would help the canteen manager enormously!  That is all we ask, it is not much and not very hard. We would also like some volunteers to help with the set up in the mornings. Again just one hour of your time can make all the difference. All parents who volunteer their time during the season will go into a draw to receive free registration for your child for next season. This will be drawn at the end of year Dinner Dance.

All match reports and game results will now be displayed on the noticeboards in the clubrooms.

The Dinner Dance has been booked for Saturday night August 2nd from 6.00pm til late. 
Tickets are available for $65 per head.  Also selling tables of 8 for $500 which is a 5% saving. 
So grab a few of your friends together and book a table and enjoy a fun night out to end the season.
